About

My name is Michael Carter, but most people in the sim racing community know me simply as Mick. I’ve always been drawn to the world of motorsport—long before I ever touched a steering wheel or sat inside a racing cockpit. Growing up, Sunday afternoons often meant watching Formula 1 and endurance racing with my dad. The sound of engines, the strategy behind every pit stop, and the precision of the drivers fascinated me. But like many, the real world of motorsport always felt a little out of reach—until I discovered sim racing.

I started sim racing in 2015, almost by accident. A friend invited me over to try his Logitech G27 setup with a copy of Assetto Corsa. I remember gripping the wheel for the first time, feeling my heart rate spike as if I were in a real cockpit. The immersion was unbelievable. What started as a casual hobby quickly became a passion that has shaped how I spend my free time.

Over the years, I’ve moved from entry-level gear to more advanced setups—experimenting with direct drive wheelbases, load-cell pedals, VR headsets, and dedicated racing rigs. I’ve spent countless hours tuning force feedback settings, optimizing ergonomics, and learning the nuances of tire models and car behavior across different simulators. I love how sim racing blends engineering, skill, and creativity—it rewards patience, but it also challenges you to push your limits.

Today, I race primarily in iRacing, ACC, and rFactor 2, focusing on GT3 endurance events and open-wheel cars. I’m not a professional driver, and I don’t pretend to be. I’m just someone who genuinely enjoys the craft of racing—the grind of practice, the thrill of close battles, and the satisfaction of improving one lap at a time.

When I write about sim racing, I write from experience—not only what I’ve learned, but also the mistakes I’ve made along the way. My goal is to help others build setups they love, improve their driving skills, and feel more connected to the racing worlds they enjoy.

I share guides on sim racing cockpits, setups, gear choices, and driving improvement to help others build rigs they love and find more enjoyment in every race. I’m not a pro—just someone who enjoys improving one lap at a time.

If you’re here reading this, then maybe, like me, you just want to get a little bit better every race. And trust me—that’s the real joy of sim racing. You can contact me at this form.
